About Us

The Creative Sportsman is a brand built for outdoor enthusiasts who value both tradition and innovation in fishing. Rooted in classic catfish jug-fishing practices, the company designs and manufactures modernized floats that make it easier and more reliable to detect bites and catch fish. Built in the USA, each product is designed to honor the spirit of time-honored angling while adding practical improvements that work for today’s anglers.

We focus on creating simple, durable, and fully assembled fishing tools that are ready to use right out of the package. Our team is made up of outdoor-loving creators who understand what works on the water, and we build our gear in the USA to perform in real-world conditions from pontoons and jon boats to kayaks.

What We Do

We specialise in catfish jug-fishing gear, with a signature product called The Flipping Float™. Built in the USA, this line of floats is designed to turn traditional jug-fishing into a more visible and efficient method by giving anglers a clear, instant visual signal when a fish bites.

Each Flipping Float™ is fully assembled, so the only step for the user is to attach the bite-indicator flag. The floats are built to be strong, buoyant, and easy to spot on the water. Built in the USA for dependable fishing performance, they are made for anglers who run multiple lines from a boat, pontoon, or kayak and want a reliable, low-hassle system that still feels true to the craft of fishing.

“I love the Flipping Float™ and how convenient they store in the boat — they are never under my feet. When I get home and put them up in the shop, they are the neatest, most organized catfish float system I’ve ever used!”

“I fish some deep holes up here in Tennessee —we’re talking 70-foot holes. The Flipping Float™ comes with 20 feet of line which is fine for most lakes, but I had to add another 50 to 60 feet of line for some of the deep holes we fish. With other floats, winding up that much excess line took forever. With the Flipping Float™ I just wrap the line right around the 6x6 float, anchor the hook, and slide it onto the PVC pipe as I pull each one out of the water. They’re fast, they stay out of your way in the boat, and they don’t roll around because they’re square. I like things nice and neat — and these deliver.”

“Night fishing with the Flipping Float™ — those reflective flags really do work. Even when the fog rolled in, I could still see the floats at 75 to100 yards with my spotlight. Without fog, I was spotting them at300 yards or more. When it was time to pack up, I knew I had every single float because they’re so easy to count on the PVC pipe. The guy who sold them to me told me to get a half inch PVC pipe to store them on, and that when I was cutting the pipe to leave five or 6 inches so I’d have room to grip the pipe with my hand. That was great advice."

“We met the salesman at a Subway — we were grabbing a bite before hitting the water, and he overheard us talking catfish. He showed us the Flipping Float™ and it looked pretty neat, so I bought 20 right there on the spot. We fished with them that night and they were everything he said they’d be. The biggest fish we landed was a 42-poundblue. We caught 20 fish over 25 pounds fishing until 1 o’clock in the morning. I’ve gotten rid of all my other floats — the Flipping Float™ is all I fish with now. It does everything any other jug or noodle ever did, but it does it better. From the moment I leave the house to the time the floats are back in the boat, it just makes the whole trip more enjoyable. It’s the GOAT.”

FAQs

Everything you need to know about The Flipping Float™ before getting started.

The Flipping Float™ does not automatically include a storage crate. A bright orange milk crate may be available separately while supplies last, but we also recommend a simple 1/2" PVC pipe storage setup because it is affordable, compact, and easy to keep out of the way in the boat.

The Flipping Float™ is a catfish jug-fishing float designed to flip and raise a bite-indicator flag when a fish strikes, giving you an instant visual signal while fishing from a boat, pontoon, kayak, or riverbank.

Yes. Every Flipping Float™ comes pre-rigged and ready to fish. Simply attach the bite-indicator flag, add your preferred bait, and place it in the water.

The float is made from closed-cell foam and reinforced with internal fiberglass rods for added strength, buoyancy, and long-lasting durability on the water.

Yes. The float features high-visibility, contrasting flags and reflective tape, making it easier to spot during the day, in low-light conditions, and at night with a light.

The Flipping Float™ is available in white. You can also customize it with bright spray paint if you want a more personalized or high-visibility look.

That float was personalized with spray paint. You can pick up bright spray paint from a local hardware store and customize one side, both sides, or leave it white depending on your preference.

No, the PVC pipe is not included, but it is highly recommended for storage. A 5-foot section of 1/2" PVC pipe can store up to 30 floats. Since each float is 2 inches thick, multiply 2 inches by the number of floats you have, then add around 6 inches for a grip area.

A milk crate holds around 16 floats. The orange milk crate may be available while supplies last, but for most anglers the PVC pipe storage method is more compact, more affordable, and easier to keep out of the way while fishing.

Always check your local fishing regulations first. Many anglers use larger legal bait options for larger catfish, such as live bait or cut bait, depending on the water, the season, and the fish they are targeting.

Yes. The Flipping Float™ can be used in deeper water by adding more line. Simply extend the line using your preferred knot and adjust the rigging as needed for the depth you are fishing.
